Sydney Harbour Bridge

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of the most well known bridges in the world.  It is one of the greatest landmarks in Australia and a favourite amongst all tourists to Australia.

The bridge was opened in 1932 and links the city centre with the north shore suburbs of Sydney.  The bridge is made of steel and reaches across the Sydney Harbour, enabling cars, bicycles, trains and pedestrians to cross from one side to the other.  There are eight lanes for vehicles, two train lines, a pedestrian footway and a cycleway.  It is the world’s largest (but not longest) steel arch bridge.  The top of the arch is 134 metres above sea level.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb is one of the must do activities when you visit Sydney.  To climb the bridge you must be 10 years and over.  You will be provided with a Bridge Suit to climb in and must pass an alcohol test before being allowed to climb.  The climb is a lot of fun and all you need to bring on the day is a sense of adventure.

Sydney Harbour Firework Displays

On special occasions the Sydney Harbour Bridge is used as the base for major firework displays.  New Years Eve is a favourite for all Sydney-siders and tourists with thousands of boats sailing out into the Harbour to enjoy the fireworks display.
